About Bahar Restaurant

When I introduce people to Bahar Restaurant, I usually start by saying it’s one of those Persian restaurants that instantly makes you feel comfortable, whether you’re stopping in for a relaxed dinner or grabbing food to enjoy at home. Located at 27771 Center Dr in Mission Viejo, Bahar Restaurant has this warm, welcoming energy that blends traditional Persian flavors with a modern, easygoing vibe. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of slow-cooked meats, fragrant rice, and seasoned vegetables sets the tone, and it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in comfort food done right. The menu leans confidently into halal Persian classics while also offering plenty of healthy options, vegan plates, and vegetarian dishes, which makes it a solid choice when you’re dining with a mixed group. I also like how flexible the service options are here; you can dine in and enjoy the full experience, swing by for takeaway, or use kerbside pickup and no-contact delivery when convenience matters. Drinks are thoughtfully covered too, with coffee for casual visits, beer and wine for evenings out, and alcohol options that pair nicely with the food. Small plates and happy-hour bites make it easy to sample a few different flavors without committing to one large dish, which is perfect if you’re new to Persian cuisine or just feeling curious. What really stands out to me is how approachable everything feels, from the menu descriptions to the friendly on-site service, making Bahar Restaurant an easy recommendation for both first-time visitors and regulars looking for reliable, satisfying food with real character.

Visited Bahar Restaurant for lunch and really enjoyed the food. We started with crispy tahdig served with a variety of stews — a unique and tasty appetizer. For the main dishes, we had the Soltani (barg and koobideh kebab) and Fesenjan. Both were flavorful, well-cooked, and came in generous portions. The restaurant was clean with a relaxed vibe, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Service was a bit slow during the busy hours, but overall, it was a great experience. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for authentic Persian food in the area.

We have been frequenting this restaurant for years as one of the best Persian restaurants in OC. The ambiance is nice and service is excellent. It is located in the second floor next to a middle eastern grocery store so you can do shopping or walk around after the meal. We ordered two eggplant dips to begin with. One with more yogurt and the other with more chill and a bit smoky. Both are excellent choices for the naans (two plates of hot naans were served per table). Each of us ordered different kabobs. I previously tried their lamb shank (excellent BTW), so I went for Chicken Soltani. There are two skewers of kabab, one with ground marinated chicken that is packed with herb flavors and melts in your mouth (like beef koobideh). The other kabab is chicken chunks which has more texture but still very trendy and juicy. We substitute rice with salad and grilled tomatoes, which is a much healthy choice and will not put you to sleep after me, as the portion is HUGE. We followed the entree with Persian saffron ice cream with a bit pistachio and sugary faloodeh noodle. Overall excellent dining experience and we will for sure tk come back many more times.

Highly recommended for a satisfying and enjoyable meal. Egg plant dorani is pretty good.

Delicious authentic Persian food accompanied with an excellent service. The food portions are huge and prices are decent, so you get a lot of food for your buck! We asked to sit by the window and enjoyed the view of the hills. There is a Persian market attached to the restaurant that you can go check out after/before your meal!

We ordered the lamb kebab, and the stew with okra. They were tasty. It wasn’t the best Persian I’ve had, but it satisfies the craving. Shirazi salad and Olivier salad for starters were good. I would def give it another shot. I would say the ambience was a bit too dark. I didn’t love the hard rice but my wife did. The okra dish felt like it could have been a bit thicker. The lamb was solid.

I have been visiting Bahar Restaurant for years, and I highly recommend it. I usually stop by Crown Valley Market downstairs for grocery shopping, then treat myself to delicious food upstairs. The cuisine is consistently fresh, and the service is quick, with staff who are very attentive. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. I particularly recommend their tahchin, kabob, and tadigh. They also offer a banquet room for events and cater throughout Southern California. Highly recommend.

You’d never guess that tucked above a grocery store is one of the most vibrant, delicious, and downright charming Persian restaurants around. Walking in, the vibe immediately hits you—modern yet warm, buzzing but not overwhelming. It’s the kind of spot you want to linger in. Let’s talk food: the jujeh kabob was juicy and perfectly marinated, with that gorgeous charred edge and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The koobideh? Insanely flavorful, seasoned just right, and paired with saffron-sprinkled basmati rice that was fluffy and fragrant—clearly high-quality stuff. And don’t sleep on the little side of torshi and salad—tangy, crunchy, and the perfect contrast. But here’s the surprise star: the desserts. We tried both baklava and the Persian-style zoolbia (those golden syrupy spirals), and they were next-level good. Not overly sweet, just rich, nutty, and beautifully plated. The prices? Surprisingly reasonable for the portion size and quality of ingredients. This place is a hidden gem in every sense of the word—fresh fruit, top-tier meats, legit saffron rice, and a team that takes real pride in their food and hospitality. If you’re craving Persian comfort with a cool twist, this spot is a must. Bring a friend. Or two. You’ll be back.
